•This semester-long course will provide an overview of Spanish vocabulary, basic grammar, and cultural information by adhering to the North Carolina World Language Essential Standards of Study for Exploratory Spanish/French.
6th Grade Topics:
*What is a COGNATE? *Greetings and salutations *The Spanish alphabet *Primary colors *Numbers (1-100) *Days of the week *Months of the year *How to write the date *Classroom Commands *Body Parts (Extra)
Culture: *What is "Culture"?
*Different ways to greet a person in Spanish speaking cultures.
*Formal vs. Informal
*Each student will complete a project on a Spanish Speaking country to present to the class.
*After watching a video on 4 locations in Spain, student's will apply for an immersion study- abroad program...who will get into the program? ***This project is a pretend/role play project.
* After watching a video on Mexico, students will plan the itinerary for their family vacation. ****This project is a pretend/role play project.
Formal Grades: 1. Cognate project Collage (completed) 2. Puppet show (written and Oral activity) 3. Snowman/monster activity with body vocabulary 4. Spanish Speaking country project 5. Class Participation (each qtr.)
